Martin Black is a member of the legendry musical Black Family from Dublin. Armed with his voice Black will perform Irish ballads and folk music for all to enjoy.
Black's family heritage includes his mother Patty who performed at ballrooms and dance parties in and around Dublin in the 1930s and 1940s, and father Kevin, an accomplished musician who played the mandolin, banjo, fiddle, accordion, flute and bagpipes. His sister Mary and brothers Shay and Michael first performed together in the folk clubs of Dublin during the 1970s and were joined by the youngest member of the family, Frances in 1979. Staying in Dublin
St. Stephen's Green is a 27 acre park in the heart of Dublin city centre. A
popular lunchtime retreat for many of the office workers in the area, it was originally
open public ground until 1663 when it was fenced off, sold and closed to the public. It was during this time
that the Georgian houses around the Green were built.
The Green remained private ground until 1877 when Sir A.E. Guinness, a member
of the Guinness brewing family, pushed an act through Parliament making the Green
open to the public once again. He later paid for the laying out of the Green including
the gardens and the ponds which date from 1880.
Besides providing a place to rest and take in modern life in Dublin the Green is within walking distance of many places to see including Grafton St, Leinster House (a.k.a. Houses of the Oireachtas, i.e. Irish Parliament), the National Gallery of Ireland and the National Museum of Ireland
Places to stay around the Green include The Shelbourne, the Alexander, Daveport, Mont Clare and Stephen's Green of the O'Callaghan Hotels and The Conrad. Other hotel options, include budget and mid-priced hotels can be found online include Dublin Hotels.
